28 Aug Isla Santa Catalina
There have been attempts by foreign investors to possess the little island in front of Santa Catalina Beach. The village did not allow it and declared this little jewel and turtle nesting area as community heritage. Local boat operators can bring you over in a couple of minutes and you will find yourself on a virgin white sand beach with some snorkel options around the rocky ends of the beach. Or you can rent a kayak and paddle there yourself.
An association of local fishermen cleaned a nature trail to a view point on top of the hill, what offers magnificent views of Coiba and the surrounding islands. From August to October passing humpback whales can be seen from this hill.
